(in million metric tons of oil equivalent)*
The statistic shows the renewable energy consumption of the leading renewable energy consuming countries worldwide in 2015. The basis of information is the gross energy production from renewable sources such as geothermal, wind, solar energy, biomass, and waste. Cross-border electricity trade was not taken into account. The conversion was made on the basis of thermal equivalent, for which the conversion of efficiency of a modern thermal power station of 38 percent was used as a basis. Italy’s consumption amounted to around 14.7 million metric tons of oil equivalent in 2015. (Source: Statista)
* Based on gross generation from renewable sources including wind, geothermal, solar, biomass and waste, and not accounting for cross-border electricity supply. Converted on the basis of thermal equivalence assuming 38% conversion efficiency in a modern thermal power station. Excluding hydroelectricity.
